Hair Cloning
"Growing new hair by planting cultured hair follicle stem cells is an ultimate dream of hair researchers. For animals, it has been possible since the 1970s but is yet to be achieved in humans. However, the dream will come true."

For severe hair loss patients, the number of hairs at the donor site is very limited, thus new methods are needed. Hair cloning is a method of regenerating hairs by culturing the patient’s own hair follicle stem cells. If successful, this technique could provide sufficient hairs for transplantation. However, when hair follicle stem cells are cultured, they gradually lose the capacity to regenerate hair. We are currently searching for ways to overcome this problem.
